You can normally get away with not wearing a collared shirt on a cold day, or perhaps even a pair of cargo shorts out at the local municipal course, but the one piece of golf apparel you simply cannot play the game without is golf shoes.
A good pair of golf shoes not only provides traction for your swing but should also help keep your feet comfortable and feeling energetic during the long walk through 18 holes. That’s not to leave out adding little bit of personal style!
The problem is that those flashy golf shoes you see the pros wearing on TV often come with an equally flashy price – some north of $200 per pair! So what does the budget-conscious golfer do when he or she is in need of a stylish, comfortable, and functional pair of golf shoes?
Have no fear, there are plenty of great bargains out there that fit the bill. That said, here a few of our favorite cheap golf shoes (we use the word “cheap” here as a reference to price, not quality) perfect for any level golfer looking for all the style, comfort, and performance of the top name brands without the eye-popping price tag.
Puma Men’s AMP Sport
These shoes scream style from heal to toe. The two-toned color patterns offer a more stylish look reminiscent of TOUR style icons Ian Poulter and Rickie Fowler. Right in the middle part of our price range, this shoe sells for anywhere from $40-60 dollars on Amazon and comes with free shipping if you’re an Amazon Prime member.

Nike Golf Heritage Golf Shoes
Although it forgoes some of that style that the Puma shoes offer, this water resistant synthetic leather Nike shoe comes with Scorpion Stinger Spikes and Tri-LOK system. According to Nike “the patented Tri-LOK system incorporates a female receptacle in the shoe’s sole and a male fitment on the spike, which is equipped with three threads,” as well as a “patented one-piece locking ring.” The system is deigned to keep dirt out of the shoe’s receptacle, making changing your spikes much easier. You can grab a pair of these online for about $45 dollars, and they should last you at least a few seasons.

FootJoy Contour Casual
This casual shoe looks more like something you would wear to hang out with some friends than play 18 holes. Simply put, this is not your average golf shoe. The Contour Casual offers a full grain leather material and employs the same shoe construction methods found in most running shoes (and you can certainly feel it when you put them on). At least one of our own staff members has even likened them to “walking on air” According to FootJoy, “the shoe contains PU Fit-Beds that match the shape of the midsole which creates an underfoot base of total comfort.”
Best of all, the contour casual sells for only about $75. It’s also important to note that these golf shoes do not come with traditional spikes, which means never having to spend money on changing them out. There is however always a trade-off. In this case, the “knubby” rubber soles do not quite provide the same amount of traction as traditional spikes (especially in wet or slippery conditions).

Kikkor Slyder Premium Golf Shoe
