Status Effects | Nioh 2 Wiki (2024)

Status Effects forNioh 2contains information regarding the variouselemental effects and status ailments that may be inflicted against enemies or the player. Below are the more common effects that are not specific to a set bonus, and can be applied in multiple ways.

An important note is that when multiple status effects of the same type are applied at the same time, they all are active and count down concurrently, but only the most beneficial effect is the one that applies and is active. For example, both Purify Yokai Realm: Heaven and Increased Attack (Purification) are the same type of Increase Attack effect. When purifying a pool of yokai realm while in High Stance, you activate both effects at the same time, so you gain 50.0% more damage while Purify Yokai Realm: Heaven is active (around 10 seconds) and then gain 20.0% from Increased Attack (Purification) for the remaining time (15-7=8 seconds left on the latter effect).

On Way of the Demon, enemies will gain resistance to a negative status effect after it wears off. This is important to remember for Yokai bosses specifically, as when they enter the dark realm they lose all negative status effects, meaning it will be harder to re apply them again and they wear off sooner.

Several effects change the duration of status effects, such as Extended Status Enhancements, Path of the Demon and the Mystic Arts Amplification and Enlightenment for their respective jutsu. These effects all stack multiplicativly with each other, ie Path of the Demon (*1.3) +20% Extended Status Enhancements(*1.2) and Amplification(*1.5) would increase an Onmyo Magic effect by 2.34 times it's original duration.

FAQs

What does water do in Nioh 2? ›

Water, watter affliction reduces the enemy physical defense, so it's always good.

What is the fire effect in Nioh? ›

The fire damage effect will deal more damage slowly over time (although you can shorten the duration considerably by rolling repeatedly!). The water damage effect makes the target more vulnerable to other types of damage.

Is Poison an element in Nioh 2? ›

Poison and paralysis do not count as elemental statuses - hence why they do not contribute to confusion...

Does luck matter in Nioh 2? ›

Luck doesn't affect if something drops, but it definitely affects the rarity of what drops. Since smithing texts and weapon skill drops are some of the rarest things you can find, luck helps.

Can you get banned from Nioh? ›

No ban. Typical gamer logic: If I win, it means I'm good. If I lose, that guy was cheating.

How important is luck in Nioh? ›

Luck is only noticeable if you stack a ton of it on Armor+Charms+Onyo Buff+Spirit Pet. even then it's barely making a difference. tested a "Luck Build" aswell in different scenarios such as "Marobashi" and you "might" get more higher quality drops over time but it's nothing you use for normal gameplay really.

What does lightning do in Nioh 2? ›

The lightning damage makes the lightning damage higher. You build electrified status by inflicting shock damage. If you have imbue lightning on the weapon - it will deal lightning damage and slowly build up the electrified status. When the badge fills - they are electrified/shocked which slows them.

Does gear level matter in Nioh 2? ›

So Gear levels matter more than stats does for most of the game. During first play through only gear level matters since gear base stats are directly tied to level. If you know how to build from Nioh 1, then you can start but honestly its not worth it. First playthrough gear is too quickly replaced.

Should you block or dodge in Nioh 2? ›

If you get hit you NEED to block, I tried to evade and you get stunned for a moment, so they usually get a second hit, while with blocking they don't. Blocking makes a few bosses extremely trivial, especially the centipede boss who does almost no ki damage when you block.

What do the snake statues do in Nioh 2? ›

Now that all of the enemies on this floor are gone, you'll notice a snake statue to the right of the cliff with the Aberrant Soldier. Taking out the snake statue will cause the Yokai Realm to dissipate. After doing so, you can turn around to find a Toxic Slime along with a body.

What does the water do in Nioh? ›

In Nioh 1, a fully applied water debuff makes your foe take more damage, Earth for ki damage, wind makes 'parrying and guarding more difficult' (Break?), Fire DoTs them.

What is the best element in Nioh 2? ›

Lightning is likely easiest to build for, and is often preferred since it slows enemies. Water is also nice because it has a spirit and a soul core that increases melee damage vs saturated enemies, and saturation increases physical damage by about 20%.

What does purification do in Nioh 2? ›

What is it and what do u do with it? Do a perfect Ki-pulse within a Yokai realm (the swirly grey circles Yokai make on the floor). When you do this it purifies the Yokai realm, making it dissipate. Very useful because when a Yokai is in a Yokai realm, it regenerates its Ki and doesn't lose any Ki while inside of it.
