In what will be a preview of things to come, Spike Eskin will be in studio for the full 94WIP Afternoons show today with Ike Reese and Jack Fritz. The show is live from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. EST.

In mid-December it was announced Eskinwould return toSportsRadio 94WIPin Philadelphia as afternoon drive co-host. Eskin will leave his current position as Vice President of Programming for WFAN in New York andCBS Sports Radio, which he has held since July, 2021.

Eskin will return to the WIP airwaves, on a full-time basis, once his successor at WFAN andCBS Sports Radiohas been found. While a nationwide search is taking place, Eskin said recently when asked for an update on the 94WIP Morning Show with Joe DeCamara and Jon Ritchie, “No update. I do not have control over that. My curent boss…is on that, that is his job. I will just wait for the word when he gives it to me. So, I don’t have an update yet, but hopefully soon.”

Today is also the NBA trade deadline which hits at 3 p.m. EST. While Eskin has been in New York, he has continued his 76ers podcast, The Rights To Ricky Sanchez so certainly he will have plenty to say on what the team does or does not do by today’s deadline.

🗣️ Looking forward to our FIRST full @AfternoonsWIP Show today. @SpikeEskin will be in studio with @JackFritzWIP and myself. #NBA trade deadline coverage and plenty of thoughts on the #Eagles/#SuperBowlLVIII and #Phillies Spring Training starts next week. @SportsRadioWIP 😎🔥🔥🔥

Former SportsRadio 94WIPhost Jon Marks was a guest on The Mike Missanelli Podcast this week and talked further about what led to his decision to walk away from the Marks & Reese show in December. Marks reiterated it was mostly a quality of life issue and that he wanted to be more present for his children and involved with their activities.

Marks said he “was compensated well. I just had my best financial year last year, it was the best I have done professionally and financially. And to walk away from it is difficult for people to understand, like ‘how can you do that, you’re talking about sports?'”

Missanelli, who hosted afternoons on WIP rival station 97.5 The Fanatic for over a decade, then asked Marks, “Were you at any point getting tired of talking about sports?” Marks quickly replied, “Yes. We are all sports fans. Talking about it for 20 hours a week and then I’m doing a weekend show on CBS Sports Radio, so I’m doing 24 hours of sports talk a week. Now, I’m not pouring concrete or working on a roof.”

Marks continued, “You almost get in a mode when you’re going through the motions. It becomes almost robotic. As much as a sports fan as I am, you kind of get bored…Doing sports radio five days a week is a grind and frankly it’s nice not doing it right now.”

As for what he does miss right now about not being on the radio, Marks said, “I miss going in to the studio…I miss working with the guys and seeing them everyday. I miss the interaction… Especially when you know you go in and it’s like, this is gonna be a good day, there’s stuff to talk about today. I’m gonna piss people off today with what I say. Those are the days that you miss, because you know you’re going to come in and you’re gonna have fun and they’re the days you miss. More than anything I miss the interaction with the audience, for sure.”
